Having initially trained on the South coast of England in 1987, Iain's diving career really took off when he moved to the North East of Scotland in 1990. Here the sight of guillemots flying around him underwater (and the addition of corrective lenses in his mask!) convinced him that there was a lot more to see and do. Now a BSAC Advanced Diver, Advanced Instructor and Intructor Trainer he carries out 80-100 dives each year, with time underwater largely split between photography.and diver training . In both ways he is committed to sharing the privileged visions of the underwater world with those around him. A member of Ellon SAC (Branch 1193 of British Sub Aqua Club, weather & water conditions permitting he dives all year round in Scottish waters and has also spent time underwater in Malta, Northern and Southern Egyptian Red Sea and The Maldives. He is active in both the BSAC North Scotland Regional coaching and Instructor Training Schemes  Having taken up underwater photography in 1998, he moved through Nikonos IV, Nikonos V and III, with a range of lenses from 15mm to 35mm plus close up and macro attachments and 2008 finally saw the leap to a housed SLR system and the move from film to digital with a Nikon D80 camera in Sea and Sea DX-D80 housing. Although holding an honours degree in Biology, specialising in aquatics, Iain has pursued a full time career for more than 25 years in the local authority Sports & Recreation Sector, currently managing a variety of facilities in Southern Aberdeenshire.
